Our Team is a professional and bilingual team of dedicated staff and volunteers who are here to support you through separation. While your partner or son/daughter is deployed we provide a number of services which encourage positive independence, coping skills, self-awareness and reassurance that will empower you and your family to continue and become stronger as a unit while waiting for their return. Whether you are looking for opportunities to network with other families, looking for professional assistance with coping skills, or some supporting activities to help pass the time, we are here for you, your extended family and your children. Feel free to browse this site for activities and programs, short term counselling, support for children and resources. Our services are here to support Regular Force families, families of Reservists, and extended families.
Military deployment is when a CF member or Reservist is required to spend "time away from home" for a period of 30 days or more. Deployment includes temporary duty, special
tasking, field exercises, restricted postings, course or overseas operations more than 30 days.
If you or your family will be experiencing a separation for 30 days or more due to one of the above please drop by the Military Family Resource Centre and let us know. When you register with the MFRC we will ensure that you and your family stay connected and informed of programs and services offered at Petawawa MFRC. Sign up for Operation Keep In Touch.
- Pre-Deployment
- Pre-Deployment is often all about preparation. Whether it's for a few days or a few months, there are a number of things that you can do to help you and your family prepare for an absence due to military duty.
- Deployment
- Deployment is an often common part of military life, though not an easy one. At the PMFRC we have programs and services for you and your family to help with the common and sometimes unexpected things that occur during deployment.
- Reunion & Reintegration
- Reunion is identified by many military families as the most challenging time for them. To help during this time we offer information, workshops and resources.
In Case of an Incident Overseas : In the event of an incident in Afghanistan, the South Side Community Centre in Petawawa will be open to all military families for support, help with child supervision and information. As well we provide numerous on-going programs and services for adults, parents and children.
