To open your home to children and begin your small business venture as a PHDC caregiver is a three step process.
Step One - Screening Phase
- You need to contact our Private Home Day Care office to arrange an initial home inspection appointment. Our PHDC Home Visitor will visit your home and review with you the policies and procedures of our program. She will also bring a Consent to Disclosure of Personal Information form, which your can either submit through the Military Police or the Ontario Provincial Police, and a Consent and Authorization for Family and Child Services of Renfrew County Check. It is necessary that you and anyone else, who is over 18 years-old and living in the home, complete these forms. The Home Visitor will also make any recommendations you need to do regarding our Health and Safety Standards.
Please note that in accordance with the Day Nurseries Act, all homes must be SMOKE FREE.
- Step Two - Home Visit
- Once your have completed and submitted the paperwork from Step One and it has been determined that the process can continue our Home Visitor will schedule a second home visit with you. During this visit, all the paperwork is reviewed and a copy of the quarterly Health and Safety Inspection checklist is left with you. At this point, the Fire Inspector will schedule an appointment to visit your home to ensure it is compliant with the fire health and safety guidelines. You will need to arrange with your home insurance company to add Child Care Liability Insurance. You will also need to submit a mock menu and mock activity plan to the Home Visitor.
- Step Three - Health & Safety Inspection
- This is the final step is the Health and Safety Inspection. This takes place once you have signed and submitted all the required documents to our office. The Home Visitor will then schedule a quarterly Health and Safety Inspection for your home.
