Our program guides young children through developmental milestones as they discover the ever-changing world around them.
The half day program is open to all children in our community, military and civilian, who are two and a half to five years old. You can choose to enroll your child in our two-day, three-day or five-day program. Children do crafts, make music, hear story-telling, participate in outdoor fun and have visits from special guests. And if your children aren’t toilet trained – don’t worry they don’t need to be.
Subsidies may be available, call Kiddie Kollege at 613-687-8691 for details.

A High/Scope Advantage to Nursery School
We have taken the High/Scope Curriculum approach. You may be wondering what this means and how this type of program affects your child. We see children as active learners, whether they initiate it or we plan it. We give them a hands-on approach to learn through interacting with people, objects, events and ideas. Our trained staff understands child development and how to support the important areas of learning and offer guidance to our students. Hence our students take the initiative to develop their own social, intellectual and physical abilities.
The backbone of our program is a daily consistent routine. This frees us - the teachers and the students - from worrying about what is coming next during our time together – and allows us to focus our energies on the task at hand.

- Philosophy
- Our philosophy at Kiddie Kollege Nursery School is to provide a positive learning environment for your children that encourages their development. Our principal objectives are to develop trust, independence and initiative in children. Through a play-based curriculum, children are encouraged to explore, discover and actively construct their own understanding of the world. This program recognizes the uniqueness of each child and promotes total development by addressing social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs.
- Programming
- Our programming encourages children to be independent, gain self-esteem, have effective problem solving skills and to be focused and task-orientated. Some of the program areas, which attribute to a child's development, are:
- dramatic play
- sensory experiences
- literacy
- creative activities
- Literacy
- To promote, encourage and motivate young children to read, we structure our circle-time and books with a corresponding theme. Keeping with a theme, teaches children that print and speech are related. We point to words while children read them; eventually, our students come to realize there is a relationship between print and spoken language.
- Creative Activities
- Art activities contribute to children’s intellectual development and strengthen their perceptual motor skills. As they compose their art, children are creating, reasoning and expressing themselves and learning where "up", "down", "inside", and "outside", etc. are located.
- What Does My Child Do at Kiddie Kollege Nursery School?
- Our teachers at Kiddie Kollege Nursery School encourage children to learn through play, as well as, learning through planned activities at circle times. At our Hello Circle, each child has an opportunity to be the weather helper. Our classroom also has many centres in the room for our students to explore and use their imagination. We have a sand/water play centre, painting centre, play dough centre, puzzle area, gross motor play and a quiet area for looking at books and for creating puppet shows. Our doll centre is a multi-tasking centre as it becomes our grocery store centre, doctor's office, post office and a campground where children can sit around a "fake" campfire, sit in a tent and go fishing.
Our preschoolers are introduced to various themes throughout the year that we change weekly or bi-weekly. Some examples are: discovering our five senses and learning about insects, dinosaurs and wheels. Our themed circle-times may include finger-plays, matching games, stories, songs and guest speakers. We go on field trips and enjoy nature walks around the nursery school. During the year you can count on us – teachers and students - to perform a small concert for our families at Christmas and Valentine's Day.In June of each year, we have a special graduation.
