Your child care plan is a written document that outlines your regular childcare arrangements along with your back-up and emergency child care plans. We recommend keeping a completed copy of your plan for your records, as well as, give a copy to the person you would entrust your children to in the event an emergency arises.
Who you entrust your children to would also be your emergency contact person, should something happen to you. In our kit we provide a fridge magnet and wallet card. Simply write the name and phone number of your emergency contact person on the fridge magnet and wallet card. Remember: an emergency worker needs to find this information quickly.
You Were Asking - What is Childcare Planning Kit?
"Be Prepared" is not just a Scouting motto, it is vital as a military family. We know you aren’t looking for a crisis, but with Murphy's Law, it always seems to happen when the solider is deployed. You can ease your stress by having your emergency child care plan in place before a crisis rears its head.
Our child care emergency kit is a detailed form outlining important information regarding your child; in the event an emergency should occur. When completed the document becomes crucial in providing the best care for your child when you or your regular child care provider is not available. The content of the kit is listed below:
- Information about the Emergency Child Care Services
- A guide to finding quality childcare in the area
- A package for you to go through to list your regular, back up and emergency childcare provider, as well as, your emergency contact list of people
- A fridge magnet and business size card for your wallet to write your emergency contact person’s name and phone number
- A guide to completing the kit

- Anticipate travel arrangements that may be needed.
- If money is needed for travel, please consider this when creating your plan
- Before searching for childcare providers define what your needs are and what you require of the childcare provider.
- Don’t forget about your pets. Make arrangements for them too.

- Make arrangements to have a back up caregiver before you need one.
- Is working from home an option? Discuss with your employer and co-workers the possibility of working from your home in the event your child is ill.
- Is your spouse around? If so, can he take the day off to parent? Can you? Check both of your workplace polices regarding this issue.
