Early Years Age Group Activities & Resources
Learn - Laugh - Love - Live
Children love to learn, love to laugh and love to live. That is what it is all about for this age group. Whether you have a newborn, terrific two-year-old, toddler, preschooler or a combination, look to us to for programs, playgroups and services to help guide you and your children through their early developmental years.
This is definitely an excellent time to find resources outside the home through the community, health organizations, friends, family and support groups. Here are some that programs and resources that might be of interest to you.
Workshops & Programs
- Kiddie Kollege Nursery School
- The Kiddie Kollege Nursery School guides children through the highly important early years as they discover the ever-changing world around them. Open to military and civilian children (2.5 to 5 years of age), the 2, 3, or 5, half-day sessions feature crafts, music, story-telling, outdoor fun and special guests. Children do not need to be toilet trained.

- Just Daddy & Me
- Wanted: Dads with children birth to 6 years for two and a half hours from 9 - 11:30 Saturday morning fun at the PMFRC. Join us at the South Side Community Centre for some "daddy approved" fun themes.

Ontario Early Years Play N Learn Activities at the PMFRC
- Support each other in the challenging field of child-rearing. Introduce your children through peer play, to various learning experiences and develop socialization skills. As well as Learn N Play activities, the PMFRC offers literacy sessions and pre-school playgroups.

- PMFRC Parent/Child Play N Learn Activities
- The Parent/Child Play N Learn programs offers you as parents, grandparents, caregivers and children from ages birth to 6 years old to gather and share the joys and challenges of both caring for and raising your children. Programs are geared to promote literacy, social, and creative experience through play. It also allows your children to socialize with other children through social, cognitive, gross motor, sensory, arts and crafts, as well as circle time. We also provide support caregivers through workshops and guest speakers.

Special Visitor – Story time with the Petawawa Library. Thu Apr 17, 10:30-11:30, South Side Community Centre. Come out for stories, songs and crafts.
Special Visitor - Is your spouse deployed or away on course? Tue Apr 29, SSCC, 10:30-11:30 and Wed Apr 30, PMFRC Annex, 10:30-11:30. If so, you might be interested in hearing from the PMFRC deployment services coordinator. She will be attending to discuss services and programs that are available to families.

- Ontario Early Years Centres
- Ontario Early Years Centres are places where parents and caregivers can take part with their children in a range of programs and activities get answers to questions get information about programs and services that are available for young children as well as talk to early years professionals, as well as other parents and caregivers in the community. Find an Early Years Centre in your location.
- Children's Deployment Support Program (CDSP)
- Watch for us at your school (click for a list of schools). Get out of class and just be you. If we are not at your school let us know. This activity-based program provides children from JK to grade 8 an opportunity to discuss their experiences related to a parent's absence and develop positive coping tools. Early Years Parenting – 9 weekly sessions starting April 25 at 9:30 a.m. at South Side Community Centre. Pre-register for program and childcare, if required, by April 11.
